Times Of Swaziland: CIVIL SERVANTS GETTING PAID FROM MONDAY CIVIL SERVANTS GETTING PAID FROM MONDAY ================================================================================ BY SIBONGILE SUKATI on 11/01/2018 00:40:00 MBABANE – Spend wisely. This is the message that has been sent to civil servants by the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Public Service, Evart Madlopha. This follows a memorandum from the office of the Accountant General (AG) informing the public servants that they would receive their salaries as early as Monday next week. The salaries have already been run and from Monday until Friday, the public officers should be getting their January salaries. The early pay comes after the about 35 000 civil servants were paid their December 2017 salaries early as has been the norm by government for its employees during the festive season or Christmas holidays. The PS first thanked government, in particular the Ministry of Finance, for working extra hard to ensure that there was enough money available to pay the government workers early this month. He said this would enable them to pay for their children’s educational fees as schools would be opening in just under two weeks. “My advice would be for them to spend the money wisely so that the children are able to go to school. We cannot have a situation where children are at home because the money has been misused,” said Madlopha. It should be noted though that the civil servants will have a long month after their early payment next week because come February 2018, government will revert to pay them on their normal pay dates which is normally from the 20th of each month. . . .
