There was a traffic jam for over five hours as traffic police had to redirect traffic going towards Manzini to the lane going up to Mbabane. The traffic was from Swazi Inn down to Bahai, where the police made an alternative route to avoid a heavy traffic jam as the truck had blocked the road. The truck from national heavy haulage, which was ferrying 10kg bags of LEK-A-LIK dog food is suspected to have developed a mechanical faults before overtutning. The driver, Cecil Ramasenya, was trapped in the truck for over 20 minutes as the public and the police tried to rescue him. According to a passenger on board the truck, Siyabonga Sithole who escaped with minor injuries, they were on their way to Malkerns when the accident occurred. Sithole narrated that the driver was trapped by the steering wheel as the truck landed on the driver’s side on the guardrails separating the highway. “I met him at the border gate this morning and he was from Delmas in South Africa with the consignment. He did not say anything before the accident and I did not see anything when the accident happened. The paramedics who took him to hospital told me he would recover from the injuries. The owner of the load and the truck has been called to inform him of the accident,” Sithole said. ……….
