MBABANE – After keeping the nation in anticipation for months, the Swazi
Mobile switch on will finally be launched tonight.
The launch comes just two days after the company announced its gift of E60
million shares to the first 100 000 customers who will purchase sim cards.
When the company announced that the switch on would take place on the third week
of this month, most Swazis were disappointed as they had been made to believe
that it was going to be on the first.
However, the wait is finally over as the switch on is set for tomorrow. As if to
prove that they could not wait any longer, following the announcement of the
shares, the company’s administration offices were yesterday flooded with
people enquiring about when exactly they were going to get sim cards, while
others had come to register.
The ladies at the reception were busy for the better part of the day, not only
attending to the people who showed up but also to non-stop phone calls from
those who wanted to know more about the shares.
To prove that all was set and that the company was ready to get down to
business, it was confirmed that a huge stock sim cards had already been
delivered in readiness for the switch on.
Journalists who visited the offices yesterday were given the chance to see part
of the sim cards stock.
Director Victor Gamedze confirmed to this newspaper that they already had a
stock of over 60 000 SIM cards in readiness for the switch on, and that more
were still to be delivered in the coming few days.
“We are on course and ready for the launch where everything would be
announced. At the launch, the nation will get to know the amazing packages that
we have prepared for them,” he said in an interview on Tuesday.
