These form part of whose who came into the country on Sunday for the SADC Summit. It has been gathered by this publication that a number of the delegates found themselves with no accommodation as most of the hotels and lodges along the Mbabane/Ezulwini/Manzini corridor are fully booked. It was gathered that a search for people who own houses that could be used to accommodate some of the delegates was instituted. A government official, who is part of the committee responsible for welcoming SADC delegates, said they were currently running around trying to get accommodation for the stranded delegates. “We had to request people who might have good houses in places around Ezulwini to assist by providing accommodation and make extra cash,” said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity. Director of the SADC Unit Chazile Magongo said it was the responsibility of the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs to provide accommodation for SADC delegates. Emmanuel Dlamini, Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Tourism, explained that some delegates confirmed their participation very late. He said the explanation they received was that some of the delegates were informed quite late that they would be attending the summit. Dlamini said they would meet the stranded groups and find a way to help them.
