Times Of Swaziland: JOB SEEKERS CAMP OUTSIDE KING’S OFFICE JOB SEEKERS CAMP OUTSIDE KING’S OFFICE ================================================================================ BY SIBUSISO GAMEDZE on 29/07/2016 04:45:00 LOBAMBA – A group of job seekers bear the brunt of the chilly weather daily in an attempt to secure work at Nkhanini where the King’s Office is located. However, on numerous occasions, the undeterred group would be told that there were currently no vacancies but would continue to sit and hope for a different answer. Many months have gone by as the group of unemployed citizens from different parts of the country camped daily outside the King’s Office at Nkhanini, hoping to be called in. The job seekers, who spoke to this reporter on condition of anonymity for fear of victimisation, said they would rather die outside the gates of Nkhanini than to return to poverty. They said they were sending a plea to Their Majesties to find it befitting to issue a Royal Command for them to be given jobs as they were currently ravaged by poverty. They said they were determined to go to Their Majesties to beg for the jobs. They said they were reliably informed that some promotions were effected within the King’s Office and some posts had become vacant. They said the posts consisted of cleaning staff, groundsmen and other general duties, which did not require special skills in order to carry out. *Phindile, one of the job seekers in an interview, said she had been coming to Nkhanini to look for a job from as far back as February 2016. She said she was originally from Hluthi in the Shiselweni region and would come to Nkhanini almost weekly such that there was barely enough money left to cater for meals.
