CHARGES GROSSLY OFFENSIVE – SPTC’S CHARLES NDLOVU

MBABANE – Swaziland Post and Telecommunications Corporation (SPTC), Senior
Manager Sales and Marketing Charles Ndlovu has said the charges that were
brought against him were hideous.
This is contained in his closing submission during his disciplinary hearing,
where he was facing three charges.
“The response of the respondent (Ndlovu) in his letter giving rise to the
present hideous charges was that the documents were resident in a number of
other departments,” reads part of Ndlovu’s submission.
Ndlovu was facing charges of dishonesty, dereliction of duty and negligence.
All the charges, which Ndlovu described as hideous, emanated from an article
which appeared in this publication on October 12, 2015.
The article was about the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup tournament voting process.
Some of the leaked documents included those that related to legal documents SPTC
and four local soccer teams, which received loans from the corporation during
the voting process.
In his closing submissions, Ndlovu denied that the department of Sales and
Marketing, which he heads, had the sole custody, care and control of the
contentious documents to the exclusion of other documents within the
corporation.
The chairman of the disciplinary hearing, lawyer Muzi Simelane, found him not
guilty on all the three charges.
Simelane noted that there should have been a link between the conduct of the
accused (Ndlovu) as the head of the department and the unlawful act of the
publication.
