Times Of Swaziland: PROBLEMS ARE BORN WITH ACCOMPANYING SOLUTIONS PROBLEMS ARE BORN WITH ACCOMPANYING SOLUTIONS ================================================================================ Editor on 25/01/2023 08:20:00 Sir, The earth’s position in space has been changing over the ages, and this change produces new waves of change affecting life on this earth. This energy of change, we are told, affects our social cycles, our thinking, our heart rate, the central nervous system and ovulation cycles for women. The energies of new waves of change have brought about multiple crises, including climate change, global economic crises. Crises mean that something is happening that needs our attention, said Greg Braden. I believe that part of these crises include the growing rate of violence in our communities, the high rate of breaking marriages and an increase in the commissioning of crime. Crises Sometimes it’s easy for us to think that these crises are brought about by human conduct only, not realising the hidden universal forces behind and beyond human making, which provide a whole racial paradigm shift. So many happenings have over the years forced us to change our thinking, and the change of our thinking automatically changes our attitudes, perceptions and behaviour; and the change in attitude and behaviour changes our habitual life and character. In this we experience the making of the modern man and the unmaking of the old man. We live in an age which remained dreamland for our forebears. The ancients looked forward to our day with awe and wonder. The rapid technological changes are revolutionising our lives like never before. The human being is made and unmade and made anew. Take for instance the invention of the mobile phone. It has affected the way we do business and communicate with each other. Adding to this is the introduction of social media. Scenario The home and social circles have been changed. In the modern man scenario, we see a husband and wife with two or three of their children seated in the living room before a giant screen supposedly watching television, but each person is glued on ‘WhatsApp’ or ‘Facebook’, simultaneously. They are present to each other but not present. This has replaced the old wholesome familial bonding experience. Think also of the introduction of the camera and the selfie concept to our cellular phones. It has changed the old ‘we culture’ to the new ‘I culture’ of vanity fair where the self is made by the selfie. In this way our focus has become the physical body, our looks and so much energy is spent on make-ups, fancy apparel and appearances, unlike earlier generations of contemplators where the focus was the inner man or the higher self – the spiritual self or soul. Spiritual For, “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience,” said Catholic thinker and Philosopher, Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. These identical crises aroused, among other things, by these technological advancements of our time cause us to escape the true self by making us focus on the flitting empty whims. Albert Einstein puts it this way; “There’s been a quantum leap technologically in our age, but unless there’s another quantum leap in human relations, unless we learn to live in a new way towards one another, there will be a catastrophe.” This seems to present the idea that all problems are born with accompanying solutions.
