Times Of Swaziland: GIVE UP COMPLAINING GIVE UP COMPLAINING ================================================================================ The Editor on 11/07/2019 08:41:00 Sir, Whenever things go wrong or what we do or say never achieve us our desired results, we always find someone or something to blame. Surprisingly, we complain about things we can do something about. We don’t complain about things we don’t have power over, like gravity, rather we use it to our advantage like playing baseball, high jump and the likes. We never take time to ask ourselves, How did I create that? What was I thinking? What were my beliefs? What did I say or not say? What did I do or not do to create that result? How did I get the other person to act that way? What do I need to do differently next time to create the result I want? If you are going to be a great winner, you have to acknowledge the truth. Accept that it is you who took the actions, thought the thoughts, created the feeling and made the choices that got you where you now are. It was you who ate the junk food. You are the one who didn’t say no. You are the one who took the job. You are the one who stayed in the job. You are the one who chose to believe them. You are the one who chose to ignore your intuition. You are the one who abandoned your dream. You are the one who bought it. You are the one who didn’t take care of it. You are the one who decided you had to do it alone. And you are the one who trusted him or her. In short, you thought the thought, you created the feelings, you made the choices, you said the words, and that why you are where you are now. Pressure The circumstances you complain about are all situations you can change, but you have chosen not to. You could learn to cook healthier food. You could say no to the face of peer pressure. You could quit and find a better job. You could take the time to conduct due diligence. You could trust your own gut feeling. You could go back to school to pursue your dream. You could take better care of your possessions. You could rich out for help and ask others to assist you. And you could take self development classes. But all these things require you to change. For you to get something different you have to do something different. Jack Canfield once said “Event plus Response equals to Outcome”. Change The day you change your responses is the day your life will begin to get better. So if you find yourself in a situation, you have to replace complaining with request and taking action’s that will achieve your desired outcomes. But why don’t you just simply do these things? It is because they involve risks. You have to run the risk of being unemployed, left alone, ridiculed and being judged by others. You have to run the risk of failure, confrontation, or being wrong. You have to run the risk of your mother, your neighbours or your spouse disapproving you. Making a change might take effort, money and time. It might be uncomfortable, difficult or confusing. And so, to avoid risking any of those uncomfortable feelings and experiences, you stay put and complain about it. More interestingly, people always complain to all the wrong people; They go to work and complain about their spouses; then they come home and complain to their spouse about the people at work. Why? Because it’s easier; it’s less risky. It takes courage to confront or open up to your friends, family, partner or boss about things that make you unhappy or uncomfortable. Sadly, the people we always complain to can’t do anything about our situations but the right people could. It worth noting that if you didn’t believe there was something better possible; more money, a bigger house, a more fulfilling job, more fun, a more loving partner, you couldn’t complain. So you have this image of something better and you know you would prefer it, but you are unwilling to take the risks required to create it. Either accept that you are making the choice to stay where you are, take responsibility for your choice and stop complaining, or take the risk of doing something new and different to create your life exactly the way you want it. The world doesn’t owe you anything, you have to create it. Do it, Be it and Live it. By Brand Shota brandshota22@gmail.com
