Times Of Swaziland: WE DESERVE TO BE TREATED WITH DIGNITY WE DESERVE TO BE TREATED WITH DIGNITY ================================================================================ The Editor on 27/06/2018 03:42:00 Sir, I wrote a letter at the beginning of the year expressing the horrible service that emaSwati were receiving at the South African High Commission (SAHC). I have been to the SAHC twice last month and on both occasions I found a certain Mr Kekana who seemed to be running the show. I don’t know if he is the new consular or only here on a temporarily basis but I was quite impressed with his leadership. It is very easy for us to complain and then not give credit when it is due. Hence I would like to applaud Mr Kekana. He was walking around and assisting those in the queues; now that is what management is about. Making sure your clients are satisfied. He would explain politely if anyone had any documents missing and could not proceed with the various permit applications. Unlike the verbal abuse we are subjected to by the consultants behind the desks. The second time I was there, he even answered calls and gave out relevant information to the callers. I have called numerous times before and was always told to come to the offices physically just for a basic enquiry. So it was refreshing to see Mr Kekana helping in this manner. A friend of mine had the same experience when she went for her critical skills permit interview. She had no complaints and was pleasantly surprised by the service. Re a leboga Ntate. My praise might be premature as we are yet to see how he handles the study permit rush in December. Hopefully by then his hostile staff will help more than 20 students per day and there will be no need for students to be sleeping outside the mall just to get assistance. At the end of the day, the SAHC is here to service the people and we deserve to be treated with dignity. Busi NOTE: In an effort to afford them the right to reply, this letter was emailed to the South African High Commission. And when a follow up call was made, they promised that they would do so, however, this has not happened. Ed
