Times Of Swaziland: LET US GIVE GOOD EDUCATION TO OUR CHILDREN LET US GIVE GOOD EDUCATION TO OUR CHILDREN ================================================================================ The editor on 10/11/2015 01:31:00 Sir, The community should stand together for the children so that Swaziland can be counted as a rich country as well, maybe by 2022 we will have taken great strides. Parents should lead by example when it comes to their children. Education is the most powerful tool one can use to change the world or any country. Why are so many young school-going children involved in criminal activities in Swaziland? Children are stealing from their own homesteads why? The upbringing of any child is very important. This comfort zone has destroyed many people. Parents must not neglect their children in the process of these challenges they face. If they are wrong they are wrong, they must not be protected from owning up to their actions. We need to set an example to them. Yes, they are a gift from God but they must know that you are their parent and they are not above you. Our youth can change this country from being one of having high unemployment rates to one of highly skilled labour through education. Schools should be learning institutions and not become the things we constantly read about them in the media. Quality education is needed and there can be no debate around that. Parents should play their part in our communities so that children can be raised to be good leaders. At the end of the day the country will benefit from this. I cannot recall quite well who said these words but he said ‘charity begins at home’. That is why I cannot fold my arms and be a spectator in this country. Teachers and churches cannot do it alone, parents have to be active participants as well. It is my belief that it all starts in the home at family level. The Constitution serves as a guideline for how the country must be governed and what rights citizens have. We should all work together to move in the right direction, let us unite and work together to build the Swaziland we want and can be proud of. Edwin M B Dlamini, Sandlane
