Times Of Swaziland: ‘PAPY ACTED DIFFERENTLY BEFORE HE DIED’ ‘PAPY ACTED DIFFERENTLY BEFORE HE DIED’ ================================================================================ BY NTOKOZO MAGONGO on 02/05/2019 03:46:00 MBABANE – The day Malanti Chiefs Burundian striker Papy Faty collapsed and later died, he acted differently, according to one of his teammates. The player is said to have been uncharacteristically quiet before the MTN Premier League clash against Green Mamba last Thursday. Malanti’s Sandile Mazibuko said they were still trying to recover from the incident, as it was a terrible situation and they were in utter disbelief. “He is one player who was always talkative ahead of a game, as he encourages us to go and fight but on the day he acted differently. He was quiet since morning and before kick-off he said less than he had done before. We felt that he was feeling something and eventually that happened,” he said. Mazibuko also revealed that he scored a hat-trick through two assists from Faty when they beat Manzini Sundowns 6-0 during an MTN Premier League game. “He was one player that worked hard at training. He always put more effort than any other player. Now we want to play our remaining game and finish the league on a high note and we want to dedicate all the games we play to him. He was a soldier especially because he died while wearing the team’s jersey. We are always going to love and remember him,” he added. Incident Meanwhile, Green Mamba’s Musa Dlamini said that was one of his toughest days in a football match. He said the incident happened in the first half but they got the news about 20 minutes into the second half and to continue playing was going to be hard. “We wanted to play and end the game but it was never going to be easy especially for the Malanti Chiefs players. We send out condolences to his family and the entire football fraternity. This is something we don’t want to see happening in our football,” he said. The game was called off after the sad news of Papy Faty’s tragic death spread like wild fire. Malanti Chiefs have four games remaining against Green Mamba, Young Buffaloes, Tambuti and Manzini Sea Birds.
