Times Of Swaziland: ‘COSSASA GAMES BREEDING GROUND FOR TALENT’ ‘COSSASA GAMES BREEDING GROUND FOR TALENT’ ================================================================================ BY SANELE JELE on 03/05/2019 04:09:00 MANZINI – The Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga believes the ongoing COSSASA Games are a breeding ground for talent. The Confederation of School Sports Association of Southern Africa (COSASSA) games which started yesterday, and are expected to end on Sunday, saw over 500 athletes battling it out in the track and field annual event at Mavuso Sports Centre. The grand opening was marked by the His Majesty Correctional Band, Sibhaca and Ingadla which was a marvel to watch, especially to the visiting countries of Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and Zimbabwe. Presenting during the official opening among other dignitaries, other than the minister ‘Madze’, were COSSASA President Solomon Duiker, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Sports who was represented by Nhlanhla Motsa, Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council CEO who was represented by Zama Tsabedze, Manzini mayor Mxolisi Mabuza,The Local Organising Committee Chairman Colani Ngcamphalala. The minister in his opening remarks first applauded COSSASA for entrusting the Kingdom of Eswatini with hosting the competition. “First and foremost, I welcome all of our brothers and sisters from the various member countries who have joined us for this tournament. We welcome all of you to our beautiful country and we are proud and honoured to share it with you for these next few days,” Bulunga said. “It is through schools’ sports that talent is discovered and nurtured. Many countries in Southern Africa, including ours, do not have enough sports academies to discover and properly nurture the vast talent at our disposal,” he said.
