Times Of Swaziland: WHAT IS EXPECTED OF SD THIS YEAR WHAT IS EXPECTED OF SD THIS YEAR ================================================================================ By Jan Sithole on 14/01/2018 20:00:00 As a Christian and God-fearing person, I am always keen to know God’s declaration for each year during a cross over which are always pronounced through ‘Men of God’, whether they are called apostles, pastors, reverends, prophets or bishops. It doesn’t matter, but what matters are the declarations they make for the New Year at the crossover. I serve at the Destiny International Christian Church (DICC) under the guidance of Pastor David Chaliyumba, where 2018 was declared as a year of Jubilee and Fruitfulness. I read other declarations made by other Christian denominations and they also complimented this declaration as they say: ”A year of elevation in all areas”. I also heard Bishop Alex in Nelspruit saying it’s a crossover “to possess what is in the land for prosperity.” Others say the number eight (8) means new beginnings, all these declarations are in congruence with each other. 50/50 celebrations I have taken this opportunity to look at what is expected in Swaziland countrywide this year. I have found some relevance in that indeed this is a year of double celebrations and the Jubilee called 50/50 celebrations, where His Majesty the King is turning 50 and the country is turning 50 since independence in 1968. What a good and unusual coincidence! I am mindful that this coming Jubilee finds the country in financial and cash flow distress as such there is need for wise and smart spending. On the one hand and as a long term solution, government must deliberately broaden the tax base and create jobs by exploiting the God-given natural resources that the country is endowed with, ranging from gold, diamonds, iron, Kaolin, timber, sugar cane, cotton, tobacco and consider the positive side of Cannabis and hemp (and not the drug abuse part of it) and avoid over dependency on the ever dwindling SACU receipts. This is a must do if vision 2022 is to be achieved. For this to happen, we need policies and laws that will attract investors and create jobs.
