SCOT STUDENT CROWNED MISS CULTURAL  HERITAGE 2013/2014

EZULWINI – Swaziland College of Technology (SCOT) student, Phumzile Thwala was
on Saturday night crowned Miss Cultural Heritage 2013/2014.
Thwala (22) who is doing her Diploma in Computer Sciences is also the reigning
Miss Cultural SCOT.
It took only three hours for Thwala to be crowned the fairest of them all,
beating 11 contestants who took part in the pageant held at the Royal Swazi Spa
Convention Centre.
Attending was a disappointing crowd of about 60 people who came to witness
Thwala taking over the crown from Zanele Shongwe.
Part of the audience was the board members of the Swaziland National Council of
Arts and Culture (SNCAC) who included the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Stanley
Dlamini.
Also in attendance was Princess Siphiwayena who represented Inkhosatana
Sikhanyiso who could not attend the event because of work related commitments.
From the onset, Thwala showed her confidence especially when answering questions
posed by the judges.
The judges included Lugedlemba Dlamini, Njabu Dlamini, Fikile Dladla and Shante
Anderson.
At first, all the contestants were called to the stage where they were asked
different questions by the judges. Each contestant was required to answer only
one question.
After the questions, the judges then made a decision on who would go through to
the top five. Making it through were Nokulunga Ngubeni, Fezile Shongwe, Tanzile
Mtfupha, Fezile Dlamini and Phumzile Tfwala who was contestant number two.
All five of them proceeded to the next set of questions. The five contestants
were confident as they answered the questions accordingly.
There was tension as the judges were expected to announce the winner. First to
be called was Fezile Dlamini who was crowned second princess.
Next was Fezile Shongwe who became the first princess. Soon after the two were
called, the few people who attended started screaming Thwala’s name as it was
evident that the crown was hers.
Sandile ‘Msandi Kababa’Nxumalo who was the programme director, called
Thwala’s name and that was when she came forward to receive her crown.
Most of her fans went to the stage to congratulate her together with some of the
dignitaries.
.. SCHOLARSHIP AMONG HER PRIZES
EZULWINI – A scholarship to pursue her studies at the Limkokwing University is
among the prizes for Miss Cultural Heritage 2013/2014.
Apart from going to university, Phumzile Thwala is expected to undergo driving
lessons that have been sponsored by Zoty Driving School. This prize is worth E3
600.
Thwala is also expected to get a hamper from Edgars worth E3 500. She is also
expected to receive a laptop as part of her prizes.
Tony Dlamini, President of the Swaziland Beauty Pageant Association (SBPA)
confirmed the prizes, and that the presentation would be held soon.

“We would like to thank everyone who has made this initiative a success. I
also thank the sponsors for making the pageant a success,” Dlamini said.
He said there were a number of prizes to be received by the finalists saying
most of the prizes would be unveiled during the prize giving.
Also thanking the sponsors was Stanley Dlamini, Swaziland National Arts and
Culture Council CEO, who said had it not been for them the pageant would not
have been a success.
“To the sponsors, we thank them for making it possible for the event to
continue. We urge the public to support them as they have also ploughed back to
the pageant,” he said.
