The much anticipated MTN Bushfire Festival kicks off today at Malandela’s, House On Fire. This will be the 16th edition of the festival which will host musicians from Eswatini, South Africa, Mozambique, Lesotho, France as well as Zimbabwe, to name a few. Last year’s MTN Bushfire Festival took place from May 27 – 29. This uniquely African, yet globally infused festival, welcomes thousands of tourists and citizens to an atmosphere of inclusivity and passionate commitment to music and arts. Festival Even this year, the festival is returning to the farmland of the Malkerns Valley. The festival has bagged itself accolades over the years. For instance, it was announced the winner of the ‘Best Responsible Event’ at the African Responsible Awards in 2017. It has also been hailed by the Cable News Network (CNN) as one of the seven African music festivals you have to see and further listed by BBC as a ‘Top African Festival’. Some of the artists you might want to see perform at this year’s festival include, Stogie T, Sho Madjozi, Morda, Black Motion, Kabza De Small, Ami Faku, Ibeyi, Crooks, Bellinda Chester, Lution, Uncle Karly, Touch of Soul, iYa, Qibho Intelectual, Its All Blaq, Supa CDQ, Trend Twins, Thobile Makhoyane, M Nation, Yung Tempo, Naardie, Viwe, Jack Parow to name a few. Gates will open from 4pm and the performances are set to begin at 6pm with IAMSIWAS opening the festival on the main stage. Sho Madjozi, Morda, Jack Parow, Lution, Velemseni, Uncle Karly are some of the acts that will be bringing more fire in today’s first edition of the three-day festival. Tomorrow, Musicians such as Stogie T, Black Motion, Kabza De Small, M Nation, Young Zesh, Trend Twins, Thobile Makhoyane, Its All Blaq, Supa CDQ as well as Qibho Intelecktual will be setting the festival on fire. Lastly, on Sunday musicians such as Ami Faku, Ibeyi, Touch of Soul, DJ Crooks, Bellinda Chester, Uncle Karly, iYa as well as Maleh, to name a few, will be shutting down the festival.
