MBABANE – Dreams do come true!
On Saturday, South Africans woke up to social media posts about a live
performance between United States of America (US) John Legend and SA musician
Mthandazo Gatya.  The pair in the video were singing along to John Legend’s
‘Nervous’ but in different languages. Gatya performed the song in isiZulu
and the lines were synchronised with his latest release ‘Ngiyabonga’ where
Nhlonipho Dlamini was part of the production team.  Dlamini shared that the
trending Tik Tok video by Gatya where the song by the US based star was first
remixed was a production that he worked on with the SA star. The song speaks
about the actual phase and current space in life.  This is Dlamini’s third
release with the SA artist; their last project is doing great ever since its
debut on Channel O, late July this year.
Another hit singles of the pair, ‘Sizo Bambana’ has been making waves on
SA’s Metro FM Top 30 sitting on the 9th spot.  Dlamini is also doing the most
with his talent, he will also perform at the up-coming Standard Bank Luju
Festival this weekend. The artist is a music producer, singer and pianist born
in Mankayane. He found his passion for music after being introduced into Choral
music by his mother, who was a teacher and Choral music conductor. The artist
won his first solo competition in primary, and never looked back. His music has
led him to work with renowned SA and international artists from the likes of
Luyolo Yiba, Nathi Mankayi, Samthing Soweto and Amanda Black just to name a few.
Dlamini relocated to Johannesburg back in 2015, and got a job as a lecturer in
Music Theory and Keyboard Technique at Digmac Media College in Braamfontein,
which he says taught him a lot of patience. “Working as a teacher taught me
that people have different strengths and you need to make sure that everyone in
your class moves in the same pace,” said Dlamini.
