Mbabane – It’s time to get ready for the Standard Bank Luju Food & Lifestyle
Festival on September 30 and October 1 this year, at House On Fire.
This year, Standard Bank and House On Fire have even more to bring you with this
family-friendly feast of culinary exploits, high-end fashion and Afro-centric
music, celebrating the wealth, sophistication and elegance of African heritage.
Music
The festival is pleased to announce some new additions to the Luju line-up with
Afro-Jazz/Soul powerhouse Ezamaswazi, siSwati Blues singer King Don Thobela, and
Jazz pianist and composer Sibusiso Malindzisa, all from Eswatini. They will be
joining the other exciting acts, including South Africa’s (SA) king of dance,
Zakes Bantwini, who just won multiple awards at last weekend’s SA Music Awards
2022, the mesmerising Ami Faku, renowned Cape Verdean/Portuguese singer Lura,
Radjha Ali from Mozambique and Eswatini’s Soul sensation Msimisi.
Fashion
It’s time to eat, sway and love at Luju again, so if you haven’t got your
Luju outfit together yet, make an emergency call to your designers now.If you
need some advice on talented designers to contact, please email
dalaspaces@gmail.com. There will be a runway fashion showcase for some of the
best designers in the nation and a ‘Best-Dressed’ competition for our
stylish festivalgoers!
Pre-festival
Renowned SA Hair Artist Nikiwe Dlova will be leading a pre-festival hair art
workshop in Eswatini, for local hair stylists. Entry is free, and application
forms can be found on the Luju Festival website. Applications close on Friday.
Culinary
Celebrate the cultural diversity and influence of African flavours with
Somizi’s Afro-Fusion cooking demonstration, the Luju Long Table collaboration
between Malandela’s Restaurant and Chef Eric Malinga, and the finale to the
Pick n Pay Luju Cook-Off competition, and don’t forget to sample all the tasty
delicacies in the Luju Food Garden! The Pick n Pay Luju Cook-Off competition is
open to all residents of Eswatini aged 18 years and above, and up to E20 000 in
prizes can be won. All competition details and the application form can be found
in Pick n Pay stores and on the Luju Festival website. Applications close
September 9, 2022, so if you think you have the ‘right spice’, enter now.

Tickets
Online tickets for the Luju Festival, as well as camping tickets, are on sale
and may be purchased via the Luju Festival website: www.lujufestival.com.
Tickets are selling out fast, so avoid disappointment and get them now! Tickets
can also be purchased at selected Standard Bank Eswatini outlets in Mbabane,
Ezulwini Gables and Manzini, as well as Dala Spaces at Malandela’s Lifestyle
Centre in Malkerns. Luju tickets can now be purchased with the Unayo stand-alone
banking app developed by Standard Bank, via WhatsApp.
