Times Of Swaziland: MISS TEEN, LITTLE MISS ESWATINI REVIVED MISS TEEN, LITTLE MISS ESWATINI REVIVED ================================================================================ Nombuso Dlamini on 17/08/2022 09:13:00 MBABANE – The entry lines for the return of the ‘baby’ of beauty pageants in the country are open for action till September 30th this year. The pageants will make a triumphant comeback; the final crowning will take place in December. It will see collaboration between the two pageants, namely; Little Miss Eswatini and Miss Teen. Little Miss Eswatini is one of the newest pageants in the industry, the first and only one was held in December 2019, where Shakira Mamba reigned supreme. For Miss Teen, the last queen crowning was back in 2017 where 16-year old Tyra Johnson was crowned alongside 15-year-old Nina Zwane and princess, 16-year-old Emihle Dzimba. There’s no queen at the moment, because a reign ends after the stipulated time which is usually a year. Preparing Miss Teen was put on ice because the committee was said to have been tied up with other beauty pageants, such as preparing for Miss Eswatini and the international pageants the country is currently participating in, and according to Pageants Eswatini President Catherine Potgieter, the pageant will see its revamp again this year. According to Potgieter, they were happy to announce the comeback of the pageant. The organisers of both pageants decided a collaboration would well suit the movement. Their aim is that the younger contestants gets inspiration and support from the Miss Teen contestants who are much older and have a mature perspective on things. Entrants are required to send one minute video clips of themselves to Little Miss Director Nokuphila Masango. In the clips, they will only give their names and elaborate on why they wish to become the next queen. Both competitions have no physical requirements, which is a new notion in all the beauty pageants in the kingdom. This development was explained by both directors as a way of embracing that everyone is unique and beautiful in their own right. Encouraged Also, as these competitions are for the younger ones, they are encouraged through these platforms to get out of their shells and explore their full potential. The only conditions for these two are the age limits, which range from seven to 18 years, respectively. The crowning for both pageants will happen on the same day, at a date yet to be announced in December. Parental consent is necessary, like the previous years. This is done to protect the girls from what has been categorised as online creeps, as they are at a very sensitive age. The top 10 contestants can also look forward to prizes as this platform is trying to encourage these young beauty queens, and they will award them so they do not feel left out. The main prizes for the top three positions are spectacular. They will be awarded with new age gadgets and beauty hampers, among many more great goodies. It worth noting that Mr. Eswatini is set to make a comeback in 2023.
