Lukhele from Dalriach in Mbabane has been giving DJs all over the country a run for their money in the Amapiano music scene. The young DJ is currently in school but also manages to balance her academics and her new found passion for music. With an ever so busy weekend the rising star is booked every other weekend and has headlined at popular hangout joint Solanis, Shisanyama. ‘‘My dad is the legendary DJ Cybos. My passion started when I was younger and I’ve always loved music, my dream of being coming a DJ wasn’t much of a surprise. Learning how to DJ was not as easy as I thought it would be but it certainly proved that it was in my DNA,’’ said the young star. Music is an outlet and safe platform for Lukhele to express her thoughts and feelings without her saying a word. performed Lukhele recently performed at the Lifestyle Experience, Iced edition which featured local big names in the music industry like Supa CDQ, Zulu D and Ayacity just to name a few. Her work so far in the industry has certainly surpassed her age and landed her great recognition. When asked about her aspirations for her future in the music industry she gave great feedback which was interesting, given her age. “Future aspiration, look man, I’m just riding the wave till it ends, with a plan though that’s why I have a team. I want to be the one who made it, the one that did things differently, the one that showed my age mates that it’s possible to make it if you believe in yourself. If you put in the work and be weird and goofy because only you can be you,” said Lukhele. She’s inspired to change the norm in the industry. She is lucky to have grown up under a music oriented family and she has seen and caught on, on what she wants to grasp and what she doesn’t want to promote in her form of artistry. She also aspires to play for big audiences for shows like the MTN Bushfire Festival. Velefini Mngomezulu, her manager is also excited by the exciting works the teen is about to showcase in the industry. ‘Age has not defined or derailed her from spreading her wings,’ said her manager.
