The pair is on the verge of releasing a remix of the much loved song in the continent right now. Vhudie, real name Vhudihawe Mamphwe, first got recognised on Idols SA season 16 last year, after he impressed both the judges and Mzansi with his audition, original song ‘My Yoki Yoki’. His love song went viral after the episode aired and it didn’t take long till Mzansi fell deeply in love with the afro-pop jam. ready He even had rapper and musician Kwesta ready to give him a feature. He has gone on to release his album titled ‘Uthando’ which has garnered close to 1 million streams collectively from different music streaming digital platforms. His break-out hit song’s video which premiered on November 9, 2020 currently has close to 950 000 views on YouTube. label In a telephonic interview with Vhudie’s record label manager, Stanley Khoza (SA), he said the collaboration came about after having an idea to create a link between Eswatini and South African music. “I first met Sands in Mozambique and I told him that I would love to work with him as I liked his music. Fast forward to now, we felt as if this was the right time to work on the remix as we created something magical while in studio,” he said. This is also part of the growth we are trying to achieve for Eswatini music industry as we want to make it international so that we reach a peak where our own music is easily recognised, ultimately opening more doors for other locals,” exclaimed Sands. It is worth noting that this is not the first time Khoza has worked with local artists. He has worked with renowned gospel artists like Sipho ‘Big Fish’ Makhabane and went on to win an award at the Crown Gospel Awards with Bakhe Dlamini. respective He has a sublime track record with artists he has worked with as they all have won respective awards in different categories between SA and locally.
