In what could be described as long overdue yet a game changer in the profiling and promotion of Eswatini music artists online, Swazi Rhythm has created and unveiled a state-of-the art one-stop website for top as well as talented emerging local artists. The website is called swazirhythm.com, and mainly features Eswatini’s crème de la crème music artists. The website was created by renowned local arts movement leaders Lindelwa Lindz Mafa and Bongani DJ Tizalami Dube, and is powered by New Life Entertainment. ‘While groundwork for the creation of a music resources website that features predominantly Eswatini artists has been ongoing in the last two years, the emergence of a global pandemic that adversely affected the arts sector globally only catapulted us to work at greater speed and provide a one-stop digital platform that promotes the best of our Kingdom’s music to the rest of the world,’ said Dube and Mafa. performed According to the website’s ‘About us’ page, the site is a one-stop hub for music performed by artists from the Kingdom of Eswatini. ‘SWAZI RHYTHM is a celebration of Eswatini’s diverse forms of music, from urban contemporary to traditional music, all homebrewed in the Kingdom’. The concept started over a decade ago, when radio presenter Lindelwa ‘Lindz’ Mafa started a radio show of the same name, and went on to produce a compilation album titled ‘SWAZI RHYTHM Volume 1’, an album that gave birth to several award-winning hits. Visitors to the site, according to the founders, will have access to latest local showbiz news and to music resources from top as well as up-and-coming Eswatini artists. promoters “We already have profiles of tens of top seasoned and up-and-coming artists who make quality music in the country, hence music promoters, event managers, and fans are able to get hold of these artists easily, and to listen to their music from third party links embedded on their profiles,” they revealed. Also featured on the website is a music review section, where DJ Tizalami and guest writers dissect new releases from Eswatini artists, giving candid critiques and ratings.
