Times Of Swaziland: DENZEL AND NKO SINGLE TOPS APPLE CHARTS DENZEL AND NKO SINGLE TOPS APPLE CHARTS ================================================================================ BY THEMBELANI NHLABATSI on 06/07/2020 00:34:00 MBABANE – The sky is never the limit. As the weekend tracking period draws to a close, Denzel and Nko’s ‘Akuhambeki’ is making a final statement about its impact. The song hit number 1 on the Eswatini iTunes top 100 sales charts on Saturday afternoon, and it remained in that position by the time of going to print. ‘Akuhambeki’ seized the throne from ‘Work to Do’ by August Alsina, which also ruled the charts since launching two weeks ago. Although little public sales and streaming data is available at this point, many observers assume that the race for number one will see Denzel and Nko’s beat dominating the local charts for another week. Entertainment Speaking to the Entertainment Desk, the duo’s manager Zwelakhe Simelane said the EP titled ‘Synergy Volume One’ was out on radio. ‘Ngawe’ was our first official single, which was released before the whole project,” said Simelane. He said this was their only project, which they put out on June 12, 2020 and made available on digital streaming platforms for purchase since July 3. He revealed that they started working on the album since late last year and the capturing was done earlier this year and it took two weeks to capture the whole EP. “We are happy with the release and remain excited that the people love our music. In less than 24 hours of digital release we have had one of our records ‘Akuhambeki’ from the EP sitting at number one across all genres on iTunes in Eswatini’s Top 100 chart,” he stated. Since the coronavirus hit our shores and halted entertainment in the region, artists have been working tirelessly to make sure that their brands stay relevant. The duo are not the first in Eswatini to top the charts as DJ, Tendaness’ album, which was released in 2019 recently topped the platform’s Pop Charts in May. Digitally Through his manager Sibusiso Simelane, the artist said he was also grateful that people were now catching on the wave of streaming and buying music digitally. Eswatini Arts and Music Association Public Relations Officer Bongani ‘Tizalami’ Dube said in a statement that they were extremely proud that local artists were making waves internationally and regionally as they were the country’s immediate ambassadors of excellence in the arts. Furthermore, we lauded artists, who have ridden the digital wave, especially during this time and made an impact beyond Eswatini borders, as we always say that the world is and shall continue to be our stage as we see more locals on it.
