Times Of Swaziland: MTN BUSHFIRE TO HOST ELECTRONIC PRESS KIT WORKSHOP MTN BUSHFIRE TO HOST ELECTRONIC PRESS KIT WORKSHOP ================================================================================ BY PHUMELELE MKHONTA on 08/11/2019 00:46:00 MBABANE - The internationally celebrated initiative is determined to empower local artists. MTN BUSHFIRE’s commitment to empowering Eswatini artists goes beyond the inclusion of local musicians to the festival’s music line-up every year. The festival is also supporting the country’s emerging and profiled musicians through arts development and skills share programmes. In the spirit of contributing towards the advancement of Eswatini’s music industry, MTN BUSHFIRE will be hosting an Electronic Press Kit Workshop on November 12-13, 2019 at the MTN Head Offices, Mahlalekhukhwini House, in Ezulwini. An Electronic Press Kit (EPK) is a pre-assembled set of digitised promotional materials, consisting of an artist’s biography and highlighting their unique musical qualities and experience. It serves as a resume that artists can present to booking agents, promoters and members of the media for brand visibility and to maximise their chances of being booked for shows. Confirming this was House on Fire’s Communications Officer Phiwokuhle Dlamini, who said the EPK Workshop would be facilitated by seasoned event producer, artist manager and promoter, Jess White. “With years of experience and successful names under his guidance, Jess White will share valuable insight on how to successfully package a captivating EPK. “Artists will be equipped with useful skills, such as how to draft an appealing biography, how to use social media as a tool to promote their music, and how to approach music festivals, managers and music labels. Complete “An EPK is never complete without a professional picture. Therefore, one of Eswatini’s talented photographers will take high-quality pictures of each artist during a photoshoot session on the day. This is to ensure that artists leave with a comprehensive, professional EPK,” said Dlamini. Dlamini also said although the workshop would only accommodate a select number of Eswatini artists who had already been engaged, MTN BUSHFIRE would be sharing an information pack to local artists who applied during the artist application process which was open from 1 August 2 to 31 October 31, 2019. The info pack will contain all the valuable information shared by Jess White and will serve as a valuable tool for artists looking to successfully assemble their own EPKs. “Local artists should also look out for the MTN Bushfire Arts Round Table workshop which takes place annually on the Friday of the three-day MTN Bushfire festival,” said Dlamini. Artists who wish to apply for the MTN BUSHFIRE Arts Round Table should keep an eye out on MTN BUSHFIRE’s social media platforms where more information will be made available in due time.
