ESWATINI ACTOR ‘STARRING’ ON SA SOCCER COMMERCIAL

MBABANE - South African screens is about to be graced by a local face. This is
because another Eswatini-born actor, Thando ‘Starring’ Mzamo, will be part
of a TV commercial which is still being shot and will be broadcast on South
African channels.
The advert, which will soon be appearing on TV, is for Shell, a global group of
energy and petrochemical companies.
The commercial is in relation to  the upcoming Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi
Sundowns game, which is slated for October 12 at FNB Stadium in South Africa
under the ABSA Premiership League.
The filming of the commercial is currently being done at Diepkloof in Soweto,
Johannesburg.
Mzamo confirmed that he was currently among the people who would be appearing on
the upcoming Shell advert.
Both
Mzamo told the Entertainment Desk that he would appear wearing both the Kaizer
Chiefs and Memolodi Sundowns jersey during the commercial as per the script
which was given to him.
Mzamo said he made the cut of being part of the commercial cast through the
assistance of Becky Castings, an agency for models and actors based in South
Africa.
“Beck Castings formed a partnership with the Eswatini National Council of Arts
and Culture (ENCAC) to promote budding models and actors to showcase their
talent outside Eswatini borders,” said Mzamo.
The actor said he was so happy to be part of the commercial.
“What humbles me the most is the fact that Kaizer Chiefs have been a team I
have been supporting since my childhood days and thanks to ENCAC and Becky
Castings for making me part of an advert of the one of the biggest soccer teams
in South Africa.”
Appearing on ‘big’ screens is not new for Mzamo; he is in some scenes of
international Netflix series titled ‘The Professionals’.
Also, Mzamo has made it a habit to motivate the Eswatini youth in theatre.
His last tour was about a month ago when he motivated actors from Siphila Nje
Drama Society with Eswatini renowned actor and model Nolwazi
‘Snowee’Simelane.
ENCAC CEO Stanley Dlamini applauded Mzamo for his achievements.
“As a council which promotes growth in arts in the country we encourage people
to come to our offices so we engage on how they can also be like ‘Starring’
and ‘Snowee’,”said Dlamini.
The ENCAC offices are at Coates Valley in Manzini.
