PURE VOICES EASTER CONCERT A MARVEL! ================================================================================ BY PHUMELELE MKHONTA on 15/04/2019 08:43:00 MBABANE – The first Pure Voices Easter Concert has broken the ice with Easter! Friday night saw beautiful renditions of music and theatre at St Mark’s High School Hall in Mbabane. This was made possible by the recently crowned Standard Bank Choral Competition 2019 Standard Silver champions, Pure Voices, who rendered beautiful music and the Mater Dolorosa Church (MDC) Youth which performed the Crucifixion play. The show started at 7pm and from the start, the choir sang their lungs out, including the ‘The Lord is my Shepherd song’ which evoked the Good Friday holiday mood. The MDC Youth’s play began at 8:30pm until 9:45pm, displaying every scene from the Bible vividly. The aim behind the event is charity. The choir, which is hosting its second concert, is aiming at providing blankets and other winter clothes for five elderly people in Mbabane. The concert will also benefit the Mater Dolorosa School youth that will be acting at the crucifixion of Jesus through the proceeds from tickets that will be sold. Pure Voices Choir will cover the costs of hosting the concert. Pure Voices a choral music choir based in Mbabane and most of its members are pupils from Fonteyn and Mhlatane High School and students from the different tertiary institutions. The oldest chorister is 34 years old. The MCs of the day were John Pires and Siphesihle Nkonyane. Pure Voices CEO, who is also the Eswatini National Choral Music Asscoiation, Sihle Gumbi thanked the other choirs for the support. “The fact that choirs are starting to support each other means there is a bright future inthis fraternity,” he said.
