It has only been three weeks since Hlophe released her hot song ‘Yebo’ but the time has been enough to see gospel lovers across Africa worship her gift behind the microphone. The music video of the song has been viewed over 93 000 times so far, a history-making total as she is the first gospel artist to record these big numbers within three weeks. The success of this song seems to follow that of ‘Khulul’ugcobo’, which broke all records in the local gospel music industry. Commended Her impressive journey also caught the eye of the Association of Christian Artists in Eswatini (ACASWA). While speaking through the Secretary, Thamie Ndlovu, they commended the great and marvellous work she has achieved through her single. “It is indeed music to our ears to see so much progress from our artists. We encourage other musicians to follow such trends and place their music on digital platforms. The industry must conform and find space in digital platforms to enhance our gospel music and put it in that space,” he said. The ACASWA President Dumisani Manana also shared his excitement. He said they have never seen such developments before and encouraged her to continue representing them. He further thanked her management for making sure they promoted her brand beyond expectations. Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) CEO Stanley Dlamini said he was happy to see his sector doing really well. Support “We are experiencing lots of records being broken. We owe this to the support of our nation and our people. Our wish is to see government ensuring that art is among the development index for our sector’s influence to the country’s GDP,” he said. Meanwhile co-founder of Swaziboy Entertainment Mthunzi ‘Shadow’ Zwane said this was a victory for the local arts. “I am happy for her and her manager, Mandla Cheeks Nxumalo,” he said. Hlophe seriously owns the gospel music scene as the Spirit of Praise recently released collaboration with her on the song ‘Impilo yami’. Advantage Other artists have used YouTube to their advantage include the likes of Illa Penboy, who saw the release of his song ‘Cheese over Bontjies’ and its music video getting great reviews on YouTube and further made its way to Channel O.
