SANDS RELEASING SECOND ALBUM, REVEALS HE’S NOT SINGLE

MBABANE – The beginning of what looks like an Oprah Winfrey show has hit the
streets of Manzini.
The first-ever talkshow in the Kingdom of Eswatini ‘Simply Speaking ‘was
held in Manzini at Liberty centre, and the main aim of the show is to profile
artists and influencers within the entertainment industry, while inspiring each
other. It gives the public an opportunity to interact with Eswatini’s
celebrated personalities.
Phila Dlamini, who is the host and the co-host Lindokuhle ‘Leendor M’
Mthupha, said the conversations would be held every month and at the end of the
session the audience will get the opportunity to pose questions to the day’s
guest.
All proceeds to these shows will be used for charitable deeds. The show is
premised on amplifying stories of emaSwati artists by telling their stories to
the audiences through live interactions and to the world through YouTube.
The first artist to be profiled was well known afro soul vocalist Sandziso
‘Sands’ Matsebula. The ‘Tigi’ hit-maker, who has been waving the
country’s flag beyond our borders, elaborated on his childhood, education,
youth empowerment, education and his musical exploits together with his
ambitions.  According to the artist, he never got the privilege to be raised by
his father, who he currently constantly communicates with, but was raised by his
loving grandmother in the Shiselweni region.
Sands’ grandmother taught him to be humble and responsible, hence the adage
‘the richer you are, the humble you become’. Sands is strongly rooted to the
Eswatini culture as he has undergone the kubutseka initiative with his
initiation name ’Mhlabeleli’ coming out as a prophesy.
During his interview, Sands highlighted the release of his second album titled
‘Sands Rhythms’, whose release date is yet to be confirmed. Among those who
were part of the inaugural show were other well-known artists,the likes of KrTC
who applauded the concept, particularly in that most news about known figures
will no longer be speculative but will be heard straight from the horse’s
mouth.
Zandile Simelane, an HIV activist also gave a great review of the show, “The
show promises to be a hit as there were a number of people in the audience who
had the opportunity to pose some questions the artist was able to answer”.
Meanwhile, Zena Dlamini, who was part of the audience, asked Sands about his
relationship status which he confirmed that he was in a relationship.
He also emphasised how proud he was to be a liSwati as he explained the meaning
of his song called ‘Emawoza’, which means happiness “it is time to move
and be happy,” he said.
Sands also got a chance to share his wisdom with the audience. “Education is
key, stop dreaming and wake up, live your dream because you are responsible.”
Even though they were expecting about 50 people, a maximum of 30 people showed
up.
