Times Of Swaziland: POETS SHINE AT RHYMES AND LAUGHTER POETS SHINE AT RHYMES AND LAUGHTER ================================================================================ BY PHESHEYA KUNENE AND DUDU DUBE on 06/09/2018 23:14:00 MANZINI – There is no better way to end the day than with heart-warming poetry and laughter. Poets Majaha Nkonyane and Qibho Intalektual stole the show with their love-filled poems at the fully packed Rhymes and Laughter third season held at The George Hotel’s Yoruba Lounge in Manzini. The two wordsmiths who are nominees in the upcoming MTN SWAMA Awards found rap artist KrTC already paved the way for them with his thoughtful poem based on the menstruation cycle. It was during Nkonyane’s set where the crowds of people had difficulty to contain their joy as they screamed in excitement in appreciation of his poem which was about a girl he fell in love with. This poem saw a section of the crowd giving him a standing ovation and impressive cheers soon after he recited it. Left Nkonyane said the girl he talks about in the poem left him even though he had deeply fallen in love with her. However, he said he was able to fall in love again, much to the appreciation of the crowd. Before him, another MTN SWAMA Awards nominee in the poetry category, Qibho Intalektual, had spiced up his poem ‘Ngivumele Ngitibike’, with animated actions. The multi-talented artist then switched things up with hip hop tunes when he performed his song ‘Yelabaya’ and later did a freestyle which left the revellers impressed. The crowd was treated to well-rehearsed tunes from the S Cubed Project band, a new twist which has been added to the Rhymes and Laughter edition. The band played for all the artists who performed live. The hip hop artists also gave their best and were well-received by the crowd. It was not going to be a complete show without laughter and Co-host Comedian Mdura and host Anakhonza made sure the crowds of people who attended were in stitches throughout the show. The two were an instant hit on stage with their witty remarks and comical gestures. Comedian Female Comedian Mandy made sure she kept the audience out of breath with her set which lasted just over 10 minutes. Her joke about her rival, Dr Shakes, pulling out of the MTN SWAMA Awards left the crowd in stitches as she jokingly said what Dr Shakes did was ungodly. The crowd had the chance to walk away with prizes such as MTN airtime, T-shirts and hard cash.
