Times Of Swaziland: MISS TROPHY PULLS OUT AS MTN SWAMA AWARDS NOMINEE MISS TROPHY PULLS OUT AS MTN SWAMA AWARDS NOMINEE ================================================================================ BY PHUMELELE MKHONTA on 10/07/2018 03:27:00 MBABANE – Some artists take their brand and genre very seriously. The statement also refers to fast rising artist Miss Trophy, real name Tengetile Mahlalela, who withdrew as an MTN SWAMA Awards Nominee under the category ‘Best RnB’. The ‘Sthandwa Sam’ hit maker revealed her withdrawal last Sunday and she did this after what she said was careful consideration. Her sole reason for withdrawal is the fact that she was misplaced as she sings Afro Pop and Afro Soul, not RnB. “To all my fans and supporters, I am sad to announce a decision I did not arrive at lightly. After careful consideration, I have decided to withdraw my name from the MTN/SWAMA Awards Nominations 2018. ‘‘This I do with a heavy heart. As my fans are aware, my music is Afro Soul and Afro Pop. Unfortunately, the MTN SWAMA Awards 2018 nominated me in the RnB category,” she said. The artist went on to say her conscience would not allow her to continue with the competition with the knowledge that RnB is not her genre and/or area of musical expertise. “Personally, I feel it is improper for one to compete in a field they do not belong to, hence the decision to pull out,” she said. She expressed her appreciation for the love and support that her fans gave to her through votes and she apologised for letting them down. “I did everything I could to address the anomaly,” she said. She also highlighted that this was not the end of the road for her and her fans and she was set to release more music.
