Times Of Swaziland: MISS ESWATINI 2018/19 FINALE DATE ANNOUNCED MISS ESWATINI 2018/19 FINALE DATE ANNOUNCED ================================================================================ BY NHLANHLA MATHUNJWA on 05/07/2018 01:44:00 MBABANE – It is final, the country’s most beautiful lady will be known on September 15, 2018. After numerous postponements of the Miss Eswatini 2018/2019 final, the organisers, Pageant SD, have confirmed the date. The pageant was to be held in April but it was postponed because of national activities. The event will be held at the Royal Swazi Spa Convention Centre. On this day, 11 girls will be competing for the crown. Pageant SD has already informed the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) about the finale date. “As we all know, the pageant was postponed as there were a number of national activities. We have since agreed with the council that the crowning be done on September 15, 2018” said Pageant SD chairperson Catrien Potgieter. She said her committee was already preparing for the final as they already had selected their contestants who were geared up for the competition. “As a committee, we thank the public for being patient and we assure everyone that the crowning will be held in September without fail,” she said. Asked about the pageant prizes, Potgieter said they already have a standing college scholarship for the winner while the top three finalists will receive gadgets which include cellphones. However, she was reluctant to divulge the value of the scholarship as well as the prizes in total. “We already have a number of prizes for the winners. Actually all the contestants will not go home empty handed as we have hampers for everyone,” she added. She further thanked the ENCAC for the support they have given them this far, and assure the public of a world class event . She said they would be meeting the finalists and after this briefing, the public will get to know more details about that pageant. An attempt to get a comment from Stanley Dlamini, ENCAC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) failed as his phone rang without being answered. However, the CEO had mentioned in an earlier interview that the council had a keen interest in the pageant. He said they believe Pageant SD would do all possible means to see to it that the pageant becomes nothing but the best. He also mentioned that the council supports the organisers especially when it comes to making the event one of the country’s biggest events in the pageant’s calendar. One concern that was raised was that it is still not clear if this year’s Miss Eswatini will leave the venue driving or not. Pageant SD has asked not to talk about the car being one of the main prizes for now. Potgieter was asked if this year’s winner will have a car or not. She asked not to talk about the matter for now. “For now I would ask not to talk about that until such time when we are sure of all the prizes,” said Potgieter. The last Miss Swaziland Linda Hutchinson who was crowned in 2016, drove home in a VW Polo amounting to E70 000.
