Swaziland Arts and Music Association (SWAMA) President Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini has announced that the entries for the prestigious MTN SWAMA 2018 have officially closed. The entry period was one month, and began on May 4 to June 4. This time frame was to allow the public to have enough time to submit their entries. This will be followed by a robust judging procedure that will identify the top four nominees in every category before they are announced at a star-studded event set for June 30. “The eventual winners will be decided and granted their awards and prize money at a glittering yellow carpet ceremony to be held on December 1,” said Dlamini. Dlamini said they were looking forward to an exciting time for the music industry in Eswatini. “We endeavour to give our best and give an awards ceremony like never seen before. We’d like to thank MTN once again for their sponsorship and for believing in our industry. “A huge thank you to all who have also sent in their nominations for this year’s awards, we recorded 2 500 entries,” he said. Entries were open to any qualifying musician, performer, poet, comedian and engineer or producer who is a citizenship of Eswatini or has been a permanent resident of the kingdom for a minimum of 10 years from the date of entry. The SWAMA Executive reserved the right to request documented or written proof that all entries do qualify as set out. The documents which may be requested included the following; Ministry Home Affairs issued documents; Eswatini identity document or permanent residence permit.
