Times Of Swaziland: MBONGENI NGEMA, JONAS GWANGWA FOR 10TH LEGACY EVENT MBONGENI NGEMA, JONAS GWANGWA FOR 10TH LEGACY EVENT ================================================================================ BY NONDUMISO MSIBI on 17/05/2018 08:38:00 MBABANE – Celebrating the power of music. This year South Africa’s jazz and theater giants Jonas Gwangwa and Mbongeni Ngema are part of the line-up. They will be joined by Lebo M, Nolo Letele and Unathi. The theme for this year is ‘Celebrating the Power of Music.’ This is quite apt as the event goes through a bump in governance globally. The event will take place at KwaMagogo and the Royal Swazi Spa on June 22 to 23. The Number 43 Trelawney Park KwaMagogo Legacy Project is a product of a very successful publication of the same title, in 2007. The Legacy Project primarily gives ownership to the total liberation of the continent, affords a platform to recognise and provide knowledge on the contribution of the peoples of the Southern African region and the world. History Number 43 Trelawney Park is a house situated in Swaziland that has strong links to South Africa’s struggle history for freedom. The house is rich in history and heritage both in a political sense as well as a portrait of a South African family in a postcolonial Swaziland. “We thought a little spice of music and reminding ourselves of how more difficult times were overcome in the past, is most appropriate. As the African idiom goes, ‘When we are sad we sing, when we are happy we sing, when someone is born we sing even when someone dies we sing.’ Even when uMagogo died we sang,” said Colene Arendse who is part of the organising committee. She further said music has always been a centrepiece and remains an integral part of the Masilela family. “It was key in keeping and binding the family values which were characterised by a deep fear of God.” Arendse added that in this regard, the Number 43 Trelawney Park Foundation seeks support towards hosting this historical event. The event offers invaluable exposure and networking opportunities for all participants. Over the years it has been running, it developed untold amount of networking opportunities, both in social and commercial terms. The Legacy Project will continue to partner with organisations with similar goals and values such as the SOMAFCO Trust.
