NACA 50/50 AWARDS RECORDS  OVER 100 000 NOMINATIONS

MBABANE – Historical.  This is the best way to describe the statistics
recorded by The National Arts and Culture (NACA) 50/50 Awards as the nomination
is close to being closed.
In less than two weeks after the nomination process was opened, over 100 000
people have nominated their favourite choice of artists to take part in the
awards competition.
Actually the numbers of the people who have nominated are more than the 100 000
as the statistics revealed are only for those who have nominated using the
NACA’s 50/50 social media page.
Apart from only using the social page for the nomination process, the Swaziland
National Council of Arts and Culture (SNCAC) partnered with Swazi Mobile to make
sure that everyone gets a chance of nominating.  SNCAC unveiled a nomination
line for the public to nominate their favourite artists.
The free nomination line themed under the 50/50 tagline allowed fans to
nominated using social media pages and through SMS.
Worth noting is that figures from Swazi Mobile have not yet been revealed, it
has since been gathered that there were a lot of people who have been using the
free nomination line.
Stanley Dlamini, SNCAC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) confirmed the figure saying
they were happy with the response from the public.
“During one of our meetings, we were given an update of the nomination
process. One of the updates was the fact that there were around 100 000 people
who have nominated through social media,” he said.
He added they were also informed that there were a lot of people who have been
using the Swazi Mobile platform and this is something they were happy about.
“We thank all those who have participated and for those who have not, they can
still do so using the Swazi Mobile line or our social media page,” he said.
Dlamini highlighted they would not be extending the nomination adding that
tomorrow was the last day.
“The awards will take place in April. We therefore feel it is important for us
to meet the deadline. It is the reason why we will not be extending the
deadline,” he said.
