Times Of Swaziland: ANDILE KAMAJOLA LAUNCHES TOUR IN SD ANDILE KAMAJOLA LAUNCHES TOUR IN SD ================================================================================ BY NHLANHLA MATHUNJWA on 07/02/2018 00:41:00 MANZINI – “I am what I am because of Swaziland.” These were the words of South African gospel star, Andile KaMajola. The South African award winning artist believes Swaziland has played a major role in putting him where he is today. The artist was speaking during a press conference held at the George Hotel last Monday night; launch his tour show themed ‘We Shall Overcome’. KaMajola said he is so proud to have worked with one of the country’s best producers Mzwakhe Myeni who he said had added value to his music. “Had it not been for the Swazi unique sound, I would not be where I am today. This country has taken me places. Every artists with a good ear will tell you the is that unique tone in SiSwati music and Myeni added that to many of my songs,” he said. He recalled the days when he went to record one of his albums with Myeni, president of the Association of Christian Artists in Swaziland (ACASWA). “After I had spent hours singing, he told me to start everything from scratch. I was so angry as I had thought I had done my best. However, because he had seen greater potential in me, I had to respect him as a producer and I am proud to say that the album became one of my best sellers,” he said. He further warned young artists to stick to the traditional sound especially the one that originates in the country. “Most of the artists especially in South Africa remix songs that are from Swaziland. This shows that the country has a huge potential. My plea is that artists should recognise, embrace and use this unique authentic sound,” he said. He also thanked all his fans locally who have supported him saying he would not be where he is without their contribution.
