Artists who will participate and win in the National Arts and Culture (NACA) 50/50 Awards will share E200 000. The awards are scheduled for April at a venue yet to be confirmed. Each of the 40 categories comes with a prize money of E5 000. This means each winner will walk home with E5 000. The Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture (SNCAC) has confirmed the prize money for the winning artists. Stanley Dlamini, SNCAC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) said there were 40 categories adding that each category comes with a prize money of E5 000. Winning “We have been selling categories to the corporate sector and each category is going for E10 000. Out of the E10 000, the winning artist will get a sum of E5 000 while the other E5 000 will go towards the production cost,” he said. Dlamini said since the art industry would be celebrating 50 years, artists were expected to participate in full force. “It will not be musical awards only as there are other art sectors. We want all the artists to be given a fair opportunity of participating. Participation is opened to all artists,” he said. Dlamini also urged the public to participate in the nomination and voting process as they will have the final say in most of the categories. “From the beginning until the end, the public will be allowed to participate fully. They will have the final say in almost all the categories,” he said.
