Media houses gathered together at the Swazi Jive offices at Checkers Business Park last Friday, to witness what will be the biggest hip hop show Swaziland has ever experienced in the form of the HipNotik Festival. Sakhile Nkambule of Swazi Jive Entertainment, took attendees through memory lane from the inception of HipNotik Festival in 2012 down to the seven years of existence that will be celebrated during this year’s show. First and for most, Nkambule thanked loyal fans for the success of the festival, saying that if it wasn’t for them then there would have been no HipNotik. Nkambule also revealed that for the first time in four years, HipNotik will be considering partnerinag with corporates for the ‘Title Sponsor’ as we know that in the previous years the show has managed to go on without any corporates being roped in. “This year, the festival will again run for two days and the whole set up will be revamped from what revellers have experienced before, with a whole new VIP experience,” added Nkambule. Worth noting is that this year, HipNotik Festival has partnered with SWAMA in as far as artists are concerned. Nkambule made it clear that local artists will be paid all their performance fees accordingly, with the assistance of SWAMA as they stand as an entity that protects and watches over the wellness and rights of local artists. Gracing the event was Swazi Jive Patron, Her Royal Highness Princess Sibahle, who said that she encourages the youth of Swaziland to take part in such initiatives because they are a build-up to their future. Encouraged She also encouraged them to be young entrepreneurs as the country is headed to First World status where everyone must get up and make a decent living out of the talents they have.
