E800 000 BUDGET FOR SWAZIBANK CHORAL 2018

MBABANE – As the SwaziBank Schools Choral Music Competition grows and becomes
more influential to pupils, the concept is also becoming more expensive.
This year, the Swaziland Schools Choral Music Association (SSCMA) has a budget
of over E800 000 for the competition.  The competition, which is specifically
for pupils, is sponsored by SwaziBank and is expected to start next month.
The committee led by Khonelikhosi Dlamini is busy finalising its budget which
has so far amounted to over E800 000. Some of the competition’s expenses
include venues where the competitions are held, payment of adjudicators, payment
of pianists, transport, prize monies and food.
These are among the expenses that the competition comes with. The competition
finals are normally held in June at the University of Swaziland’s Sports
Emporium.  Dlamini confirmed the budget, saying for them it is all about
improving the competition each and every year.
“The competition is growing and we can see that it is becoming bigger  and
better every year. Even this year, we are looking at a fantastic choral
showcase,” he said.
He said the competition has played a  huge role in unearthing  talent from 
pupils who were not even  aware of their own singing capabilities. “We would
like to thank SwaziBank for believing in us.  Had it not been for their support,
we would not be where we are today,” he said.
He urged all choral music lovers to make sure they do not miss this year’s
edition. Last year over 60 schools participated in the competition which saw its
finals being attended by the Prime Minister Sibusiso Barnabas Dlamini.
