Times Of Swaziland: CHOIRS RAISE E30 000 IN 20 MINUTES CHOIRS RAISE E30 000 IN 20 MINUTES ================================================================================ BY NHLANHLA MATHUNJWA on 05/12/2017 00:55:00 EZULWINI – It’s only four days before the Old Mutual Choral Music finals, and fans of the genre have faith in their local choirs. This was evident when the three choirs which will be representing the country during the finals made a sum of E30 000 in a space of 20 minutes. This was during the send-off concert held last Sunday at the Happy Valley Hotel. The choirs representing Swaziland are, His Majesty Correctional Services and Royal Swaziland Police Choir. They will all be competing under the large category section, while Manzini Cathedral Choir will be in the standard section. Attending the event were over 100 choral music lovers who all wanted to see if the choirs were indeed ready to compete at the Old Mutual Stage. Over 20 choirs from the Southern Africa region are expected to compete on December 9-10, in Johannesburg, South Africa. The concert was organised by the Swaziland National Choral Music Association (SNCMA) and its purpose was to raise funds for the three choirs. SNCMA had the hope of raising at least E45 000 on the night. The choirs needs range from rehearsals, transport and accommodation funds for their stay in Johannesburg. They are expected to leave the country on Thursday which is two days before the competition. Before calling music lovers to forward their pledges, the three choirs each had the opportunity of entertaining their fans with their music. All three choirs made sure that they give their best on stage delivering what was described as one of their best performances yet. As the choirs were singing, Sithembiso ‘Sthesh’ Dlamini who was the programme director motivated the fans to assist in contributing anything they had towards making the choir’s trip a success.
