Times Of Swaziland: MODEL REPORTED FOR NEGLECTING HER BABY MODEL REPORTED FOR NEGLECTING HER BABY ================================================================================ BY PHUMELELE MKHONTA on 01/11/2017 00:15:00 MBABANE – “The fear of facing reality made me do it.” These words were said by model Nicole Dludlu in her defence, after being arrested for neglecting her five months old baby. The model was apprehended at Madonsa Township in Manzini after going missing for almost a week. She was reported missing by her aunt Hloniphile Dludlu, who alleged that, the young mother had left the baby without stating her whereabouts. The baby is said to have been left with the aunt who assumed the mother would be back in a few hours but that was not to be. After a whole week went by, and with the baby constantly crying as she needed breastfeeding she was reported missing. According to our sources, the model was finally located by Mbabane police in Manzini on Saturday night after going missing for a whole week. The 21 year old model who is studying at the Swaziland College of Technology confessed to ‘dumping’ her baby. However, she stated that her intention was not to neglect her five months old baby. “People have interpreted it as neglect but that was not my intention. When a person is young, they tend to go through a lot and that was the case with me. I had a lot on my mind and I acted prematurely,” said the model. She continued stating that she was in constant fear of how to take care of her baby. “The fear of nurturing my child overwhelmed me and it led to my disappearance. I am scared of nurturing him,” she said. Nicole is well known for walking local fashion ramps and was recently part of the SADC fashion show. Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Khulani Mamba confirmed the incident.
