Locals and foreigners who are followers of local hip hop artist and producer Rendition yesterday took to their social media Twitter to retweet a campaign that the talented artist has started. This being the recording deal opportunity being granted to him by Red Bull Studios to record a demo in Cape Town. The tweet read ‘@RealBlackCoffee I’m a Swazi Producer, Sound Designer. I took a bus from Swaziland to CapeTown to apply for @RBStudiosCPT and this happened’ citing the fact that I got an invite from Red Bull Studios.’ The tweet went viral as a lot of his followers were retweeting it in hope that South African DJ and respected Producer , DJ Coffee notices it. Rendition is a Swazi record producer, recording artist, sound designer and co-founder of digital entertainment platform and record label MotherLand X. He has worked with artists such as Usanele from BOYZNBUCKS, Una Rams, Gemini (Ghana), Just Roybn and 80 Script . Having begun his career in 2011 as a Deep House producer, he founded a group called Rhythm Lab Project which consisted of two other members. The group released their first single “Incandescence”under Blockhead Recordings (USA) collaborating with Canadian duo Beaty and The Breakdown,the song was picked up by one of the designers at Ottawa Fashion Week in the same year. Fast-forward three years later Rendition and some of his childhood friends who were based in Chicago established an independent label, MotherLand X ,with the aim to cater for a niche market that was being overlooked in Swaziland, electronic music. Currently the talented artist has released his long awaited EP titled ‘Becoming’ which he hopes will make an impact in the music industry both locally and internationally.
