YOUNG BARITONE STEALS THE  LIMELIGHT AT SWAZIBANK SOLO’S

MBABANE – In most cases choristers who sing with a baritone voice are normally
old but with the SwaziBank Schools Choral Music Competition, it is a different
case.
The competition seems to be coming with surprises as it gains momentum towards
the finals.
A 16 year old Salesian High School pupil surprised many as he became the best
Bass chorister making his way to the competition’s Champ of Champs solo
finals.
Themba Mdalose scooped the first competition in this category which is described
as the biggest category in the soloist section.  Mdlalose outclassed six other
pupils from different schools around the country. Mdlalose impressed the
adjudicators and the audience even though he was on stage for only four minutes.
By the time he was about to finish his song, most of those who watched his
performance had an idea that he would make it into the top three.
When the results were announced it was no surprise to the choral music fans 
that Mdlalose was  named the eventual winner ,as he had prepared well for the
competition .
He said he had been working hard and his intention was to make it through to the
finals.  “I am excited to be one of the winners today. I must say hard work
pays  off and I am now looking foward to the main finals on July 1,” he said.
Khonelinkhosi Dlamini the, Swaziland National Schools Choral Music Association
(SNCMA) Chairperson said the competition was heating up adding that the finals
would be nothing but the best.
