The queen left the country on December 11 to represent the country at the pageant which took place at the Putrajaya Mariiott Hotel and Spa Grand Ballroom in Malaysia on New Year’s Eve. Before the finals, Dlamini took part in different activities which included showing off her fitness and health, which meant that she, together with the rest of the beauties had to be hard at the gym on a daily basis. The crown was scooped by Pilipina beauty queen Leren Mae Bautista. The 23-year-old beauty queen won the contest after beating more than 50 other candidates from across the globe. She earned the right to represent the Philippines in the international beauty pageant after winning the Mutya ng Pilipinas-Asia Pacific International title. A marketing graduate, according to a report online, Bautista grew up in her hometown in Los Baños. One of her main reasons for joining international pageants is to prove to the world that Filipinos ‘are really positive and fun-loving.’ Aside from the flagship Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International crown, this year’s pageant also handed out subsidiary titles. Miss India was named Dream Girl of the Year International, while Miss Iceland was crowned Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International. Miss Uganda won Miss Tourism Metropolitan International and Miss Lithuania bagged Miss Tourism Global International. Miss Tourism Swaziland Public Relations Officer, Fundzi Dlamini, confirmed that the country did not make a mark at the pageant. “Our beauty queen was amazing, unfortunately we did not make it,” Dlamini said. The Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International is organised by Malaysia-based D’Touch International SDN BHD. It is an international event that honors women who uphold beauty, poise, and good moral character. The pageant was formerly called Miss Queen of the Year International. The first Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International was crowned in 1993.
