Times Of Swaziland: SUPERMARKETS IN PROPOSED COMMERCIAL CENTRE SUPERMARKETS IN PROPOSED COMMERCIAL CENTRE ================================================================================ Ashmond Nzima on 25/03/2020 08:35:00 MBABANE – The Reeds Lifestyle Estate (Pty) Ltd’s plans to establish an estate with a commercial centre on Portion 65 (a portion of portion 7) of Farm 987 in Hawane, Hhohho district are at an advanced stage. The architect (Africa South Architects) revealed that the development is a 20-year phased plan. The first phase will be a multipurpose commercial centre, zoned to have supermarkets, sectional title flats and a clinic, to say the least. The next phase will comprise 108 residential plots. The plots range from 592m2 to 2 920m2 in size. Infrastructure Service infrastructure, for example, Eswatini Water Services Corporation (EWSC), Eswatini Post and Telecommunications Corporation (EPTC) and Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) will be provided. This was confirmed by IC Development Consultants. There will be improvements of the access road since the current road is narrow which can make access to the mall a challenge. The development will begin as soon as all statutory obligations are obtained. The attendees of a scoping meeting on Saturday were happy with the development and highlighted that it was long overdue for the area, an emphasis was made on the shops and clinic. Residents will have little or no reason to go town because of the commercial centre. However, some were worried that the cluster of houses (population) will take away the natural beauty of Hawane and also make access to the dam difficult. Exclusive “There Estate will be exclusive and safe, residents are happy with the proposed development. This estate establishment will entail the subdivision and development of the estate and commercial property,” assured the consulatants. The public meeting was held on March 21, 2020 at The Reeds Lifestyle Estate at Hawane. The meeting started at 10am and lasted for two hours. The main aim of the meeting was to inform the interested and affected parties about the project and gather their views and concerns. There was a total of 25 attendees.
