Companies which made the cut to supply and deliver the required dental consumables for a period of a year out of the 11 that had submitted bids were: ASD Medical (Pty) Ltd, E.Medical, Swazipharm Wholesalers (Pty) Ltd, IMed Investment (Pty) Ltd and B. Braun Medical. Awarded The largest portion of the multimillion tender stands to be granted to SwaziPharm Wholesalers valued at E11.2 million, while the lowest will be awarded to ASD Medical (Pty) Ltd valued at E32 537.56. Unsuccessful tenderers who did not make it to the list of companies that have been recommended for award for a wide range of reasons were; Masi Investment (Pty) Ltd, Medi Alfa Pharmaceuticals, Environmental Technology (Pty) Ltd, CYB –SAB Investment, Pharm-Pharm Medical and V&H Surgical. Reasons for objection, according to results published by the Swaziland Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (SPPRA), reflect that reasons for being unsuccessful included, but were not limited to, failure to produce a quality assurance certificate and the lack of experience. V&H Surgical passed both the preliminary and the technical stages; however, their prices were not competitive. Undertaken Ministry of Health Principal Secretary Dr Simon Zwane reported that the tender evaluation and entire procurement process was undertaken in accordance with the Public Procurement Act of 2011. In line with the Act, he mentioned that bidders who were not satisfied with the recommendations for award, would be allowed a period of 10 working days for submission of any application for review. “An intention to award does not constitute a contract,” stipulates the Act. Most recently, Eclipse Investments proved their competitive edge and efficiency in the catering industry through being the biggest winners in the E23 million catering tender for government health facilities. Out of the five companies to provide catering services for the next 12 months, Eclipse got the largest chunk of the E23 million which has been set aside. Tender evaluation results issued by the Ministry of Health Principal Secretary Zwane reflected that Eclipse stands to pocket E7.8 million to provide food at health facilities yet to be disclosed. Submitted For provision of the required services at health centres countrywide, the company had submitted the price of E32 635 299 which was, however, reduced during evaluation. Eclipse was closely followed by Fifth Avenue, which also stands to pocket E7.5 million for the provision of similar services. Other companies which also form part of the list that stands to be awarded contracts for provision of catering services at health facilities include; Caterwell (E4.9 million), Molly’s House of Grill (E3.5 million) and Capitol Caterers (E2.3 million).
