WE WON’T NEED CARS

Luke 24:17, And He said to them, “What is this conversation you are holding with each other as you walk?” And they stood still, looking sad. Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered Him, “Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem, who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”

As I have always said, the future is not going to be a continuation of the past, as most people seem to think.
In the 1800s, when people like Henry Ford introduced the car, a refreshing change from using horses and wagons, more industries had to disappear to give way to new ones brought in by the arrival of the automobile.

The blacksmiths who made horseshoes, saddles, wagons etc. were not needed anymore, as the future was not a continuation of the past.
New industries like engineering centres, oil refineries, tar road pavers, driving schools, car insurance firms, traffic police and traffic courts emerged to support the then new future.

A few months ago, I was at our new King Mswati III International Airport looking for space where investors intend to build a new hotel.
We could not get the space next to the airport exit, as the airport planners argued that this space is reserved for future expansion of the airport car park. They were sure that as the airport expands in the future, it will result in the need for a bigger car park.

The airport management team has no understanding of the future…shem!
In the future, 2022 and beyond, airports will need very little parking space as the future will not need vehicles to park like it happens now.
The sooner you allow the hotel development to happen, the better for the airport.

The airport guys still believe the future will continue like the present.
