PRINCIPLED LIFESTYLE

MOST of us would rather have miracles everyday than live a principled lifestyle that produces a blessed and successful life. A miracle is a deviation from the known laws of nature, a supernatural event, or one transcending the ordinary laws by which the universe is governed.

A miracle is actually a suspension of natural law in order to meet a need. It is something extraordinary. Before a miracle can be actuated there must be a necessary need or crisis. Therefore to perpetually need a miracle could mean, to be continually in crisis. Miracles are not God’s best for us because they are temporal in nature. When we are sick and the doctors are unable to heal us, then we need a miraculous healing. When we are in financial problems, we might need a financial miracle to effect change in our finances, yet it is just a temporal relief.

I believe God’s best for us comes when we learn how to live by the principles or laws that govern spheres of life. If we learn to co-operate with the spiritual and natural laws that govern all the spheres of our human existence, we won’t need miracles every now and then, but we will live a blessed life. A blessed life is a life that has learned to co-operate with spiritual and natural laws. A law is a force that when put in motion will produce a predetermined result every time no matter who employs it.

In order for us to live a blessed and successful life at any level, family, community or national we need to embrace first and foremost the laws of wisdom, understanding and knowledge. Proverbs 24:3, 4 says, “By wisdom a house is build, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.”

God put laws in the universe. A law does not discriminate; it is actually neutral and is no respecter of persons. For instance in dealing with relationships we must put the laws of honour, love, appreciation, communication, respect and trust into action in order to have working relationships. Every time we put a law or principle to work, it will always trigger predetermined results.

It is usually said, ‘If we do not plan, we plan to fail,’ The law of planning and preparation will always determine what we are becoming and what we shall finally become. If we fail to embrace the law of planning, we will definitely reap chaos in our future. Then there is also the law of right thinking. It is usually said that, “we will always gravitate towards our most predominant thoughts.” The quality of our thought life, may determine the quality of other aspects of our life.

Most people are lazy to think, they would prefer that someone does the thinking for them. The law of the intellect governs our ability to think, reason, understand ideas and learn. We must use our minds to study and think. It is wrong thinking to think that you can succeed in any area of life without studying.

Peter Drucker said, “Knowledge is the source of all competitive advantage.” Knowledge is powerful; it always puts us on an advantage in life. Ignorance is one of the greatest enemies of society. The bible says in Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”.
Ignorance is a destroyer. Many people’s problems can be traced to ignorance. Ignorance simply means we cannot take advantage of what we are not aware of. Information is power and light.

Lack of knowledge is darkness and blindness. When we are not well informed in life, we miss out on great opportunities of becoming successful and significant in society. It is actually very expensive to live a life of ignorance. Information empowers. We go to school, seminars, conferences, summits etc. to get information in order to function properly in life.

Information or knowledge is a gateway into progress in life. We must not just seek miraculous interventions, but we must also seek to know the principles and laws that govern a healthy family, healthy body, and healthy financial, professional and business life.
The law of management speaks to our ability to manage our relationships, time, gifts and talents. What we fail to manage, we cannot increase or multiply and we may finally lose it.

One of the most neglected laws in our time is the law of the process of becoming. Life takes us through many different processes in order for us to arrive at that place of greatness and significance.
Discipline empowers us to be committed to fulfilling purpose and vision. The law of work demands that we  must embrace a disciplined work mentality.

Farlex’s Dictionary defines work as, “exertion of strength or faculties; physical or intellectual effort directed to an end.” Speaking of Hezekiah, the bible in 2 Chronicles says, “In every work that he began… he did it with all his heart, and prospered.” Hard work will always produce good results. Let us put away laziness and get diligent in our work.
