EZULWINI – Gospel artist Mayibongwe Mthimkhulu shed tears as she scooped three awards during the Swaziland Gospel Music Awards.

Mthimkhulu, who is bereaved after the passing away of her father, was the night’s overall winner after scooping three awards.

One of the major awards was the Most Popular Artist which came with a prize tag of a Jaguar S-Type vehicle ,which was sponsored by Car Land Motors.
While Mthimkhulu scooped three awards, Mduduzi Simelane, Pastor Chris and Phetsile Masilela received two each while the rest of the winners went home with one award each.

Mthimkhulu, who had been scheduled to perform but because of her bereavement could not, was the  first artist to be called to stage to accept the night’s  first award being the SPTC Best Female of the Year Award.

As soon as she got to the stage, she failed to hold her emotions as she cried while receiving the award.
In her brief speech, she mentioned that her father had passed away three days earlier something that she said was the most painful thing she has endured in her lifetime.
She, however, said God knew that on this day she would have no parent and she believed this happened for a purpose.

Famous

Just after receiving this award, the Swaziland Gospel Awards Band sang Mthimkhulu’s famous sing titled ‘Abraham’.
This song had  most of those who attended the awards on their feet  dancing as they celebrated with Mkhimkhulu.
That was not the end as Mthimkhulu came back to the stage to receive two more awards which included the SPTC Artist of the Year and the Car Land Most Popular Artist.

Handing over the car keys to Mthimkhulu was the Prime Minister Dr Sibusiso Barnabas Dlamini and his wife Joy who congratulated Mthimkhulu for her hard work in the music industry.  Mthimkhulu danced as she received the car keys.

As she danced, the public demanded to hear her voice as they screamed asking her to sing.
Indeed, she did not disappoint her fans as she performed the song, ‘Abraham’. She then went with the PM to the car which was parked outside and was officially given the keys.
