MBABANE – As expected, the artists and the general public who attended the ACASWA Gospel Music Awards were dressed to kill.

Since the essence was on style and class, it all began from the parking lot where the artists were chauffeured from Lugogo Sun by executive cars that were sponsored by Car Land in Matsapha.

The cars included your BMW X5s, Mercedes Benz and Range Rovers among others.
Upon arrival at the venue (Convention Centre), they took to the red carpet where they posed for pictures and brief interviews with the different media houses particularly Swazi TV since the event was screened live from 8pm until 2am.

Showpiece

From that moment they were then ushered to their seats as they awaited the start of the event. One would have mistaken the event as an international showpiece, as it was beautifully decorated by the hotel’s management. There were projectors that were set up for the live screening.
The sale of pre-sale tickets was also a plus for the organisers as there was no visible queuing at the entry point. The only crowding was around the media corner as the attendees were more than willing to pose for pictures primarily because almost everyone was wary of the fashion police.

On the fashion part, credit should go to Millennium Trends as they were the main sponsors in as far as the designers’ section was concerned. They made sure that they dressed both female and male artists in beautiful suits and dresses that embraced the atmosphere of the event, which was all about dress sense among other things.

Ironically though another designer, Maswane, had two outfits that she dressed the artists with and one of them was the best for the night and it was worn by Joyous Celebration member Nomzamo ‘Zaza’ Dlamini.

Significance

At the launch of the awards it was outlined that emphasis would be on the significance of decency in dressing up, that is to say the association expected all its affiliates, who were the artists to dress in style since they were role models, hence the introduction of the Most Stylish Award category which was eventually won by Frans Dlamini.

However, if it were to be competed on the day the Best Newcomer Phetsile Masilela would have given Dlamini a run for his money.

Meanwhile, it was also refreshing to see a year old Akahle Mtsetfwa (sister to Nonhle) also dressing the part as young as she is and that shows the level at which Swazis are taking such events seriously, which might bring Vision 2022 even closer.
