MBABANE – ACASWA is preparing charges for Mduduzi Simelane of Izinceku Zamagawugawu.

ACASWA which is the mother body of all Christian artists in the country has since decided to summon Simelane who’s famously known as Gawuzela, following the piracy utterances he made. The association is demanding a retraction from Gawuzela as soon as possible.
ACASWA believes Simelane’s statement on allowing people to sell forged copies of his music was unprofessional and was letting down all the efforts by government and artist of stopping piracy in the country.
Gawuzela is expected to appear before the association’s executive committee, where he will be expected to answer on the charges to be laid before him.

Charges

These charges according to ACASWA President Mhlonishwa Motsa include  making an indecent public utterance.
Gawuzela said he would not like a situation whereby a person found with forged copies is arrested.  Simelane mentioned that he did not mind to see a person having a forged CD of his music because what is of more interest to him is that the person gets the Christian message from his songs.

Mhlonishwa Motsa, ACASWA President confirmed that Gawuzela would be charged for his statement which he insisted that it was an unprofessional statement.
“We will be calling Simelane as an executive as we want to understand why he decided to make such a statement. We are not taking such a statement lightly especially because it promotes theft. This statement simply says we artists can allow anyone to steal from us, this is not right as this is a career for most people and we will not allow such to happen,” he said.

Affected

Motsa said Gawuzela’s statement has not only affected them as artists as they have been receiving calls from the corporate sector on the same statement.
“People are concerned that we as an association have been vocal about putting a stop on piracy, yet one of our own seems to be for it. They have been asking us if we are doing anything to the artist especially because they believe he was letting other artists down,” he said.

He assured the public that they were looking into the matter and they would definitely make it a point that Gawuzela is disciplined.
“I can assure the public that we are addressing the matter and we will make sure that we get to the bottom of it,” he said.
