QUAD ELEMENT TO HOST COMMUNITY SHOWDOWN FESTIVAL
MBABANE – Quad Element is set to launch The Encrypto Arts Lounge concept for artists. This will take place on Saturday at Ngwenya as over 20 artists invade the area for the first ever Community Showdown Festival
The free-for-all festival will be held at Quad Element’s Encrypto Arts Lounge at the old post office building starting at 9am.
Among the artists expected to perform are Root Africa, Da-Babestars, Nkhaba’s Finest, HD Galz, Cracy Cartoons, Gaz’Fella, Metal Chainz and Matric Dance.
Others are Umtanya, Fikzo, Swazi and Sbu, Farick-Dod, Llysma, LalaKasiswagboi, A Junior and McBrake, DJ Vckzin-Terris and many more.
Quad Element Band Manager Thabile Mdluli said the idea behind the show was to introduce the Encrypto Arts Lounge concept to artists.
“The Encrypto Arts Lounge is a concept aimed at giving a platform to all artists, whether musicians, painters, sculptors or traditional dancers to showcase their talents in a relaxed environment. Saturday’s show is the first in a series of shows that Quad Element intends to host in a bid to give a voice to artists of all kinds,” Mdluli said.
Speakers
She added that radio personalities Sthembile ‘Supaphly’ Vilane and Bongani ‘DJ Tizalami’ Dube will be the comperes on the day. Moreover, Mdluli said that they were expecting various speakers to attend and give a word of motivation to the artists.
“As a relatively new group, Quad Element has realised the challenges that come with the industry, which mostly relate to lack of a platform for artists to nurture their talents and skills while looking for opportunities to express themselves.
There are a number of issues affecting musicians in Swaziland but the biggest challenge has always been musicians coming together, in a non-formal environment, to give each other tips on how to make it in this dog-eat-dog industry,” Mdluli said.
She further invited everyone, particularly from the communities of Ngwenya, Motshane, Kupheleni, Sigangeni, Hawane, Forbes Reef, Nkoyoyo and Nkhaba to come and witness Saturday’s show.
Urge
“I also urge parents to let their children attend. It’s going to be a safe environment and it’s during the day, so there can be no harm. We have also made it categorically clear that alcoholic beverages will not be allowed into the venue, since we are a responsible band with Christian principles,” she concluded.
